The vision for our new Marshall-Lyon County Library is within our grasp thanks to the Robert and Phyllis Carr Family gift that is providing the foundation for the Campaign for a new library.  To give our community the library it deserves, we must now privately raise $2 million to match the Carr Family gift.  Your gift provides us with the ability to build the new library.  This bold vision requires responding enthusiastically to our call for support.

How you can give a gift:

  • Outright cash and pledges

  • Stocks and bonds

  • Trusts and other planned gifts

  • Bequests

  • Endowments

 Naming Opportunities:

There are a number of ways to commemorate, honor or memorialize a loved one, a special someone, or life occasion. Members of campaign leadership will assist you to select the appropriate naming opportunity for you.

 Benefits of Giving:

Perhaps the most rewarding benefit of giving is the perennial feeling of satisfaction that you have contributed  significantly to the quality of life in our community and the elated feeling of utilizing the new library and all it has to offer.

 Discovering New Knowledge

The foundation for the development of excellent resources begins in the library.  Libraries provide access to the accumulated wisdom of time, as well as, the newest technologies.  These emerging technologies are the lifeblood of progress, innovation, and intellectual growth.  The Marshall-Lyon County Library seeks to be a leader in the broad and creative application of technology for learning and community service.  Our goals are:

  • to provide electronic databases, internet connections and to be responsive to evolving technologies in a way      that makes access to our library virtually inexhaustible

  • to provide high performance computing and visualization that serves as a focal point for technology’s transfer of new knowledge, discovery and inspiration

 Transforming Lives

The Library will foster and support an environment of enduring values based on an awareness and appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives.  We regard highly the history of the human spirit and encourage our visitors to see a future of limitless opportunities to contribute to and serve humanity.   To these ends, we will:

  • provide opportunities for lifelong education

  • support student success

  • offer programs to help business workers become efficient researchers

  • facilitate international residents’ transition to citizenship

  • foster quiet reading areas to stimulate the imagination and reflection

  • provide flexible work stations for collaborative work

  • support new learning and diverse learning styles

  • create meeting spaces for conversations and dialogues of discovery

  • establish areas for children to excite their learning to read and discover

  •  develop community programs and events
