Children’s Digital Collections

Your Lyon County library card gives you access to four digital library platforms: hoopla, OverDrive, RBdigital, and kanopy. Children’s materials are available on each service. All four platforms are available as apps for Apple or Android devices.

hoopla

Hoopla app icon logohoopla’s collection includes thousands of books, audiobooks, comics, movies, television shows, and music for a variety of ages. hoopla’s Kids Mode is designed to showcase children’s materials and limit options to material suitable for children up to 12 years of age. Please note that you must be logged in to activate this mode.

For more information on activating Kids Mode on hoopla, please see hoopla’s pdf tutorial.

When browsing hoopla normally via a computer, you can limit your search to materials for kids. Click on the “Filter” toggle menu and select “Titles for kids” under the Audience heading.

OverDrive

OverDrive logoOverDrive’s collection contains both ebooks and digital audiobooks.

To access OverDrive’s kids collection, click on Kids near the top of the page. On a mobile device, you may need to look under the menu (shown as three horizontal lines) to find Kids.

You can also limit a search to a specific audience using the Advanced Search. After opening the search bar, click on Advanced and scroll down to Audience. Toggle All audiences to Juvenile.

OverDrive’s collection is also available through the Libby app. There is not a specific kids mode, but audience can still be limited as with the OverDrive app.

Kanopy

KanopyKanopy is a collection of award-winning films, foreign films, documentaries, childrens’ tv, and more.

To activate Kids’ Mode on desktop, click the link at the top of the page that says Go to Kanopy Kids. On the app, tap the three horizontal lines to access the menu. From there, tap on Go to Kanopy Kids.
