- Let your baby hold a book and practice turning the pages
- Sing a nursery rhyme.
- Sing songs about your day.
- Put a puzzle together with your child.
- Help your child clap the syllables in their name.
- Look at a picture dictionary together or make your own picture dictionary.
- Sing a song really loudly, then really quietly.
- Spend time rocking together.
- Read a story about your child’s favorite animal.
- Let your child make music with various kitchen items (pots, lids, spoons).
- Go on a color walk together and point out things that are red, green, etc.
- At bath time, talk about what sinks and what floats.
- Say and do the motions to one of your favorite rhymes.
- Read your child a bedtime story.
- Ask your child many questions.
- Spend time humming with your child.
- Share a story about your childhood.
- Name body parts.
- Count your fingers together.
- Tell your baby what you are doing while you do it.
- Make up your own verses for the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
- Put on a puppet show using stuffed animals.
- Sing counting songs such as “One, Two, Buckle My Shoe.”
- Play with blocks together.
- Take a walk with your child, naming objects, actions, and feelings.
- Sing the ABC song together.
- Make animal noises together.
- Make a snack together by using a recipe.
- Read a story and act out movements to some of the action words.
- Play peek-a-boo.
