On May 23th at 3:30 pm, we’ll be watching Pokémon: The First Movie.
Pokémon: The First Movie is a sci-fi/fantasy adventure. It is rated G. In this 1999 movie, the first animated film featuring characters from the Pokémon franchise, Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, and friends are summoned to a mysterious mansion, where they meet a unique and powerful pokémon … This movie will be remade and rereleased with new cgi animations later this year. See the original in all its late 90s glory! Everyone is welcome to attend.
This will be the last Teen Anime Club meeting for a while.
Due to increasing restrictions on what anime studios allow us to show, Teen Anime Club is going on hiatus for a while. We’re looking into options, and we might change how our showings work and what sort of things we watch.
A note for parents:
Due to audience and cultural differences, much of the anime we watch is rated PG-13 or TV-14. You are the best judge of what is appropriate for your child. We recommend researching and/or previewing a series before we watch it at the library. Most anime series we watch are available either in the library’s video collection or free to stream online through a service like Crunchyroll or Hulu. Usually, we watch the film or show in the original Japanese with English subtitles.
