Anime Club meets every fourth Thursday from 3:30-5:30 pm!
Want to help us decide what to watch next? Come to our meeting and tell us, email a suggestion to the teen services librarian, or drop a note in our purple suggestion box. It might take a while to decide; since we’re in a public place, we have to make sure the anime company is okay with us showing it.
In July, we’ll be watching 5 Centimeters Per Second.
Takaki and Akari, close childhood friends, are torn apart when Akari’s family moves away. Although they keep in touch, they slowly drift apart, but Akari leaves an indelible mark on Takaki’s life.
5 Centimeters Per Second is a slice-of-life drama and romance and is rated TV-14. It can be streamed for free via Crunchyroll at http://www.crunchyroll.com/5-centimeters-per-second/
In August, we’ll be watching WorldEnd: What will you do at the end of the world?
Five hundred years ago, the world’s surface was destroyed, overrun by ruthless monsters. Civilization has escaped to islands floating in the sky, but even they are threatened by the beasts below. Only the girls known as fairy weapons can defeat these monsters–but what are they, really? What are the monsters, really? And who is the man who is thrown into their world?
WorldEnd is an action sci-fantasy drama and is rated TV-14. It can be streamed for free via Crunchyroll at http://www.crunchyroll.com/worldend-what-do-you-do-at-the-end-of-the-world-are-you-busy-will-you-save-us
A note for parents:
Due to audience and cultural differences, much of the anime we watch is rated PG-13 or TV-14. You are the best judge of what is appropriate for your child. We recommend researching and/or previewing a series before we watch it at the library. Most anime series we watch are available either in the library’s dvd collection or free to stream online through a service like Crunchyroll or Hulu.
