Anime Club meets every fourth Thursday from 3:30-5:30 pm!
Want to help us decide what to watch next? Come to our meeting and tell us, email a suggestion to the teen services librarian, or drop a note in our purple suggestion box. It might take a while to decide; since we’re in a public place, we have to make sure the anime company is okay with us showing it. Usually, we watch anime in Japanese with English subtitles.
In July, we’re going back to the 90s with Pokémon: The First Movie
Ash Ketchum is on a journey to become a Pokémon master! When he and his friends, Brock and Misty, stop for lunch, they receive an invitation to visit a mysterious island. When they arrive, they’re shocked to discover that their host is in fact a Pokémon: the genetically-engineered Mewtwo!
Pokémon is a fantasy action adventure show and is rated G. Various movies and seasons can be checked out from the library or streamed free on pokemon.com. This movie is 1 hour and 36 minutes long and will be finished shortly after 5 pm.
A note for parents:
Due to audience and cultural differences, much of the anime we watch is rated PG-13 or TV-14. You are the best judge of what is appropriate for your child. We recommend researching and/or previewing a series before we watch it at the library. Most anime series we watch are available either in the library’s dvd collection or free to stream online through a service like Crunchyroll or Hulu.
